Chief Risk Officer – Digital Assets
Our client is a growing Digital Asset exchange, this role is to lead the risk management function for the exchange. You will be tasked to develop risk management policies, help put in place risk metrics and reporting, risk exposures etc.. You will be heading exchange-wide risk management for the group in Asia.
You shall be driving the over-riding vision, direction and plan for risk management for the business. This role reports directly to the Board and will be responsible for providing the risk agenda to the board on all risk matters.
You should possess a strong understanding of statistics and quantitative data analytic methods, as well as a good understanding of different risk management related software applications. Experience gained in or exposure to regulatory processes would be highly beneficial. A strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and knowledge in global regulatory environments would be highly preferred. A strong understanding of MAS regulatory compliance requirements is key. Experience gained within a traditional financial institution or market is needed, meaning exposure to multi-asset class instruments. Any experience in or exposure to digital assets, cryptos and relatable products is highly beneficial.

Senior Development Engineer (Remote)

My client is a tech company founded by successful serial crypto entrepreneurs, blending best practices from tech startups with expertise in high-frequency trading (HFT) and traditional finance. This company is backed by a single-family office—a prop fund with capital access akin to a hedge fund.

My client’s proprietary technology, developed in-house and primarily coded in Rust, showcases expertise in building patented and award-winning software. This cutting-edge tech operates on a 100% cloud-based infrastructure, ensuring unparalleled performance and safety in the industry.
About You:
You are a highly skilled and experienced Senior Development Engineer, highly proficient in Rust, and you’re passionate about driving product development, solving complex engineering challenges, and mentoring junior engineers. You have startup experience, able to handle a challenging, ever-changing environment. You have solid experience in high performance computing (in high frequency trading and/or low latency environments). Your work ethic is excellent and you are able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Role Overview:
As a Senior Development Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our product development process. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality products and solutions. Your expertise will be critical in ensuring that our products meet or exceed performance, reliability, and quality standards.
Technical Responsibilities:
● Lead the design and development of complex systems, components, and features
● Collaborate with the team to define project requirements and specifications
● Perform hands-on coding, debugging, and troubleshooting, and provide technical guidance to junior team members
● Conduct thorough testing and validation of designs, ensuring they meet performance and quality standards
● Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor team members to improve their technical skills
● Identify and mitigate technical risks, and make informed decisions to achieve projectgoals
● Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually improve product development processes
● Contribute to documentation, including technical specifications, user manuals, and training materials where requested
Leadership Responsibilities:
● Develop risk parameters and risk management systems for the trading desk
● Collaborate with technology and data teams to develop and implement trading algorithms
● Monitor and analyse trading performance metrics for areas of improvement
● Develop and maintain relationships with key partners and counterparties
● Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory developments
Experience & Qualifications:
● Strong understanding of financial markets, trading strategies, and risk management
● Experience working in market making / other high frequency trading environments
● Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
● Strong leadership skills
● Proven experience as a software engineer, with at least 5 years experience
● Demonstrated experience in system architecture and design
● Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
● Strong communication and collaboration skills
● Leadership experience and a track record of mentoring and guiding junior engineers
● Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Must-Have Skills & Attributes:
● Rust proficiency (expert preferred)
● C++ or C ideally
● Domain knowledge: Ideal candidate has market making and high frequency trading (extensive domain experience is considered as 3 to 5 years)
● Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities
● Ability to effectively communicate with teammembers and stakeholders
● Experience with high-frequency trading and market making operations
● Experience in a start-up, being able to tackle the nuances, challenges and very fast pace that comes with this environment
● Visionary leadership with a focus on risk management
● Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and adjust strategies accordingly
● Results-driven with attention to detail and emotional intelligence
● Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
